Pelsall Villa 2-4 Chasetown
Newly promoted Chasetown FC utilised 21 players as they began their pre-season campaign with a short trip to Midland Combination Premier Division outfit Pelsall Villa last night, writes Andy Cox.
Despite conceding a goal from a quickly taken free-kick the Scholars led at half-time through goals from Dean Perrow and John Branch, the latter scoring just moments after the kick-off following Pelsall’s equaliser.
A third goal was added in the second-half through young gun Lee Smith, before Pelsall pulled a goal back from yet another free-kick. Chasetown had the last say though, when John Richardson – normally a physio for Chasetown’s Scholarship ide – rose to head home a Jamie Hawkins corner, to make it 4-2 to the Scholars outfit.
The new season fixtures were announced today for the re-named Evo-Stik Premier Division. The Scholars have a tough start to life at step three, with their first four fixtures being – Sat 21st Aug vs. Bradford Park Avenue (Away) – 3pm KO, Tue 24th Aug vs. Marine (Home) – 7.45pm KO, Sat 28th Aug vs. FC Halifax Town (Home) - 3pm KO & Mon 30th Aug vs. North Ferriby Utd (Away) – 7.45pm KO.
